"Oh little beetle"

Wouldn’t you agree that one of the most spectacular sights on a lovely sunny day in spring, is a blooming cherry blossom tree. The delicate little pops of pink mark the ending of winter and the beginning of spring.

The cherry blossom – or Sakura is the national flower of Japan and represents a time of renewal and optimism. Bittersweet as it is, they also represent the fleeting nature of life, since their beautiful bloom is so short-lived.

Two little Warbling White-eyes are sitting among the cherry blossoms. It’s all fun and games to them, but for the tiny beetle not so much…

It turns out it’s not only the cherry blossom’s life that is fleeting.

‘Oh little beetle!’ currently hangs in my living room on a light coloured wall. I love the way it makes me feel. When I see it, it makes me feel alive, uplifted and peaceful at the same time. It's bright background colour pops without shouting at you. The bold reds blend so beautifully into the soft pinks. The cherry blossoms make me smell and feel the sunshine on my skin and I can almost hear the bees buzzing around. It brings a fresh breath of nature indoors to enjoy, no matter the weather outside. To me it has influences of the Oriental and Art Nouveau. Letting me dream away to other worlds...
